GENTLE, PRACTICAL SUPPORT
Practical help sorting a loved one’s belongings
When someone you love has died, deciding what to do with their belongings can feel like a lot. I can help with the practical sorting and packing, at a pace you choose.
You decide where we start
We might begin with a cupboard, clothes or a few boxes. I can work alongside you, help group belongings for family, or carefully pack items you have decided to keep. Anything you are unsure about can wait.
What a visit can include
- Sorting agreed belongings into clear groups.
- Setting aside items you want to keep or offer to family.
- Packing and labelling belongings with your instructions.
- Organising the items staying in the home.
Clear instructions, careful decisions
Before we start, we agree who has authority to make decisions about the belongings. Nothing is donated, discarded or passed on without that person’s agreement. If family members need time to decide, those items stay aside.
You do not have to be there throughout if you prefer practical help to be carried out from agreed instructions. We arrange access and how you would like to be updated before the visit.
Price and arrangements
Bereavement sorting is quoted individually. Tell me a little about the work and we can have a free 15-minute conversation. We agree the tasks, time, price and dates before booking. Travel is included across Bridgend, Porthcawl, Cowbridge, Cardiff, Penarth, Barry and surrounding areas.
When other help is needed
I offer practical sorting and packing. Valuations, probate or legal advice, heavy lifting, transport and house clearance need separate specialists. You arrange any collections or disposal directly.
If a move is also being planned, see downsizing help and packing and unpacking.
